Blockstream Jade Range 2026: Core, Jade and Jade Plus Compared
Jade Core at 99 USD, the original Blockstream Jade at 67 USD and Jade Plus from 149 USD share one security model but not one spec sheet. A full comparison, the metal backup kit, the complete price list and the return policy you should read first.
Blockstream now sells three Bitcoin-only signing devices under one name, and the gap between them is wider than the price tags suggest. This guide compares the full Blockstream Jade range as it stands on 13 October 2026 — Jade Core at $99, the original Blockstream Jade at $67, and Jade Plus from $149 — along with the metal backup and air-gap accessories that most buyers end up adding to the basket. Live stock and regional pricing are on the official Blockstream store.
Every figure below was read from Blockstream's own published pages in the United States storefront view. We did not buy or operate any of these devices; the method is set out near the end.
Three Blockstream Jade Devices, One Security Model
All three share the same core claim: there is nothing worth stealing inside a locked device. Rather than a certified physical secure element, every Blockstream Jade uses what Blockstream calls a virtual secure element built on open-source blind oracle encryption. The company's wording is identical across the range — the model "allows nothing of value to be stolen from a locked Jade by itself" and "uniquely eliminates the risk of the physical key extraction if an attacker finds or gets access to your Jade without the PIN."
That is a company claim about its own architecture, not a third-party certification, and it is the single design decision that defines the whole Blockstream Jade line. It is also auditable in a way a sealed chip is not: hardware and firmware are open source on all three.
All three also ship with Genuine Check, Blockstream's on-device authenticity test that verifies the unit "was indeed manufactured by Blockstream and is not a malicious third-party clone."

What The Blockstream Jade Spec Sheets Actually Name
Here is a detail worth pausing on, because it cuts against the usual marketing direction. The oldest and cheapest device in the Blockstream Jade range is the one that names its silicon.
The original Jade's "Microcontrollers & connector" block lists Espressif ESP32 outright. The Jade Plus block carries the same heading — "Microcontrollers & Connector" — but names a connector, a control type and a battery, and no chip at all. Jade Core's block likewise names no microcontroller.
None of this is hidden; it is simply inconsistent across three pages on the same store. For a buyer who cares about what is inside the case, the $67 Blockstream Jade is currently the most specific published spec sheet of the three.

Blockstream Jade Core — $99, The Plug-And-Play Entry
Jade Core is the newest Blockstream Jade device and the most stripped-down. Blockstream frames it as a first step: "We wanted to build the simplest way for new Bitcoiners to break free from custodial exchanges." The page promises "Maximum Security, Zero Complexity."
Price: $99.00 USD
Size and weight: 65mm x 30mm x 12mm, 20g, plastic
Connectivity: USB Type-C and Bluetooth, button controls
No display and no camera — every action is confirmed in the paired app
No QR air-gapped signing and no SD card
Box: 1x wallet, 1x USB-C to USB-C cable, 1x getting started leaflet, 2x recovery sheets, stickers
The published specification block lists no battery and no microcontroller. Note one internal inconsistency: the marketing copy says Jade Core offers "full compatibility with popular platforms like Sparrow, Nunchuk, BlueWallet, Electrum, and more," while the specification block below names only Sparrow Wallet, Electrum and HWI alongside the Blockstream app. Both statements are on the same page.

Blockstream Jade — $67, The Feature-Rich Veteran
The original device is on sale at $67.00 (regular price $79.00) and, on paper, it is the most capable of the three for an experienced user. It is also the only one with a click-wheel.
Size and weight: 60mm x 24mm x 17mm, 21g, plastic — five transparent finishes (black, green, orange, blue, clear)
Microcontroller: Espressif ESP32
Battery: 240 mAh
Controls: click-wheel plus an application button, full colour display
Three communication methods: USB, Bluetooth and QR via the built-in camera
Box: 1x wallet, 1x USB-C to USB-C cable, 1x getting started leaflet, 3x recovery sheets
The advanced feature list published for this device is the longest in the Blockstream Jade range: multisig recovery, a duress PIN, SeedQR support, stateless signing, TOTP authentication, dice-created seed phrases, customisable display themes, and an optional radio-disabled firmware variant for anyone who wants Bluetooth gone at the firmware level rather than merely switched off.
Compatibility is also the broadest: the Blockstream app on Android, iOS and desktop, plus BlueWallet, Electrum, Nunchuk, Sparrow Wallet, Specter Wallet and HWI — with Bitcoin Core named in the prose as well.
One caveat on the spec sheet: the "Connector" row for this device lists only USB Type-C, while the product description describes USB, Bluetooth and QR. Again, both appear on the same page.
Jade Plus — From $149, Air-Gap And On-Device Verification
Jade Plus is the flagship Blockstream Jade and the only device in the Blockstream Jade range built for a fully air-gapped workflow out of the box.
Price: $149.00 in reinforced plastic, $169.00 in metal (Genesis Grey, Lunar Silver; Rose Gold, Sovereign Green and Black Metal sold out)
Size and weight: 65mm x 30mm x 12mm, 25g plastic or 30g metal
Display: 1.9" — "verify everything on-device"
Battery: 280 mAh
Four connection paths: USB-C, Bluetooth, camera for QR, and SD card for offline interaction
Box: 1x wallet, 1x USB-C to USB-C cable, 1x leaflet, 2x recovery sheets, 2x Compact Seed Sheets, stickers
The on-device screen is the real dividing line in the Blockstream Jade range. With Jade Core you confirm what the companion app shows you; with Jade Plus you confirm what the device itself shows you, which is the whole point of owning separate signing hardware.
Published compatibility is narrower than the original Jade's: the Blockstream app on Android, iOS and desktop, plus Sparrow Wallet, Electrum and HWI.
Blockstream Jade Side By Side
Jade Core $99 — 20g, no display, no camera, USB-C + Bluetooth, no battery published, no chip published
Blockstream Jade $67 — 21g, colour display, camera, USB-C + Bluetooth + QR, 240 mAh, Espressif ESP32, click-wheel
Jade Plus $149-169 — 25-30g, 1.9" display, camera, USB-C + Bluetooth + QR + SD card, 280 mAh, no chip published, metal option
Read that list twice before you assume the most expensive device wins on every line. It does not.
The Backup Kit Behind The Blockstream Jade
A Blockstream Jade without a durable seed backup is half a system. BIP-39 recovery phrases are what every one of these devices ultimately protects, and anyone buying into the Blockstream Jade range should read the BIP-39 specification once to understand exactly what those twelve or twenty-four words encode before trusting them to a sheet of paper.
Blockstream Metal - Plate, $149 — marine-grade 316 stainless steel with a set of character tiles; you insert the first four letters of each word and slide the cover back. Laser-engraved Blockstream design on one side, "Don't Trust. Verify." on the other.
Blockstream Metal - Capsule, $99 — manufactured by Cryptosteel, a half-kilogram (1.13 lb) stainless capsule shipped with 800 deeply-stamped tiles, holding 123 hexadecimal characters or a random ASCII string up to 55 characters.
Blockstream Metal - SeedQR, $95 — titanium, punched with an included automatic centre punch into a 21x21 grid for 12 words or a 25x25 grid for 24 words, with a space on the back to etch your wallet fingerprint. Jade Plus reads it back through the camera. Both variants are sold out.
JadeLink Air-Gapped USB Drive, $29 — a low-profile USB-C drive that lets you update firmware and move partially signed transactions without USB or Bluetooth. It is built specifically for Jade Plus, not for the other two devices.
SeedQR Template Pack, $5.00 (regular $5.99) and the Codex32 Shamir Secret Sharing book, $18.90 (regular $21.00) round out the range.

Two notes on pricing. The store detects your region and will quote local currency by default, so the dollar figures above are the United States storefront view. And accessory prices are not constant across the site: the cross-sell block on the original Jade's page offers the Metal Plate at $134.10 and the Metal Capsule at $89.10, both marked 10% off, while the collection page lists them at $149.00 and $99.00. Current prices for every item are on the official Blockstream store.

Buying Safely: Genuine Check And 61 Verified Resellers
Supply-chain tampering is the attack that should worry a Blockstream Jade buyer most, and Blockstream addresses it two ways. Genuine Check verifies the device after it arrives. Before it arrives, the company runs a published reseller directory.
That directory currently lists 61 resellers across roughly 36 country groupings, which is more coverage than most hardware wallet vendors publish. Asia is represented by Bitasha in India, Lightning Base in Japan, Jerry in Petaling Jaya, Pouch.ph in the Philippines, Siam BC and Thai Bitcast in Thailand, and — for readers in Vietnam — BitcoinVN in Ho Chi Minh City and Vi Tien Bitcoin. The United States, United Kingdom, Germany and the pan-European listings carry three to five entries each.
The practical rule is unchanged: buy from the Blockstream store or from a name on that published list, never from a marketplace listing, and run Genuine Check the moment the box is open.

Shipping, Returns And Warranty — Read This First
This is the section that changes buying decisions, and it applies to every Blockstream Jade in the range.
Returns: there are none for the wallets. The store runs a 14-day return policy for most items, but Jade, Jade Plus and JadeLink are explicitly excluded because they are classed as security devices. Sale items and gift cards are also non-returnable, and anything shipped back without first opening a support ticket "will not be accepted."
No warranty is stated anywhere. The product pages offer none, and the Terms of Service provide everything "as is" and "as available" "without any representation, warranties or conditions of any kind." The terms are governed by the laws of Canada.
Shipping times are quoted inconsistently. The original Jade's page says 3-7 business days for the United States; Jade Core and Jade Plus say 5-10 business days for North America. All three say roughly 2-4 weeks internationally, shipping from North America and Germany, with import fees possible.
Shipping cost is quoted inconsistently too. Jade Core and Jade Plus advertise free international shipping — Jade Core's page shows "Shipping calculated at checkout" and "Free International Shipping" within a few lines of each other — while the original Jade and the metal accessories say costs are calculated at checkout. A site banner describes the free international offer as running "for a limited time."
Restricted countries: the Terms name none. Blockstream reserves the right to limit sales "to any person, geographic region or jurisdiction" and says offers are "void where prohibited."
How This Blockstream Jade Guide Was Made
We did not purchase, unbox or operate a Jade Core, a Blockstream Jade or a Jade Plus. Everything above was read on 13 October 2026 from Blockstream's own published material: the three product pages and their FAQ, Technical Specifications and Shipping Details panels, the hardware security collection listing, the store's refund policy and Terms of Service, and the Blockstream reseller directory. Prices reflect the United States storefront view. Statements Blockstream makes about its own products are quoted and attributed rather than presented as independently verified, and where two of the company's own pages disagree, both versions are reported.
Blockstream Jade FAQ
Which Blockstream Jade model has a camera? The original Blockstream Jade and Jade Plus both do. Jade Core does not, which is why it cannot do QR air-gapped signing.
Is the Blockstream Jade Bitcoin-only? Yes, across the range — Bitcoin plus the Liquid Network. Blockstream describes this as deliberate: a smaller, auditable codebase with fewer attack vectors than multi-coin devices.
What chip is inside? The original Jade publishes Espressif ESP32. Jade Core and Jade Plus publish no microcontroller in their specification blocks.
Can I return a Blockstream Jade? No. All three wallets and the JadeLink are excluded from the store's 14-day return window as security devices.
Does Jade work with Sparrow and Electrum? Yes, all three devices list both, and the original Jade additionally lists BlueWallet, Nunchuk, Specter and HWI.
What happens if the device is lost or stolen? Your bitcoin lives on the Bitcoin network. You restore on a new device with your recovery phrase, which is why the metal backups above exist.
Which Blockstream Jade Should You Buy?
If this is your first move off an exchange and you want the shortest possible setup, Jade Core at $99 does the job and shares the same security model as its siblings. If you want the most features per dollar and you are comfortable with a smaller, older design, the $67 Blockstream Jade is the outlier bargain of the range — published chip, 240 mAh battery, camera, click-wheel, duress PIN, multisig recovery and the widest wallet support. If you want to verify transactions on a 1.9" screen and run a genuinely air-gapped workflow, Jade Plus from $149 is the device built for it, and the JadeLink or a Metal SeedQR completes that kit.
Whichever Blockstream Jade you choose, budget for a metal backup at the same time, and buy from the Blockstream store or a listed reseller.
Risk warning: self-custody means you alone hold the keys. If you lose your recovery phrase, no company — Blockstream included — can restore your bitcoin for you. Bitcoin's price is volatile and nothing in this guide is financial advice.
